That time I went to see/hear Rob Lowe discuss his new book, Love Life. Well I've only just read his first book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, and I really enjoyed it. I love the way he sets up each story. Instead of telling you right off the bat what actor he is running around with as a child or what move set he visits, Rob only gives the first names and descriptions until the end of each story. Then BAM, it all comes together.
To give you a little taste, picture this...a young Rob roaming about and sees a group of kids ahead filming their own war movie. When he runs up to see what their doing, he meets a boy, Sean, who introduces him to his pals Charlie, Emilio, and Chris. Sean explains that Charlie's and Emilio's dad is busy overseas filming an actual war movie...... can you guess who these kids turn out to be and what movie the father is in?!?!? I suppose the name Emilio gives it away and I should've realized then. Needless to say it's an enjoyable, easy read. I'm looking forward to reading Love Life.
Rob, God bless him he still looks glorious in his older age - was very sweet and well spoken. I was the youngest in the room by far and it was fascinating watching these women drool over him but hey, who can blame them?! At just under 6ft, golden tan, and beautiful baby blues, he is quite easy on the eyes. But as he likes to point out - pretty people have a rough life too. In his first book, he explains his roller coaster of a life and some of it may even surprise you...or not. Nonetheless, definitely a good read.
