Inspiration: 12.16.14 - Insta

What I'm loving this week on Instagram...

IMG_5828

Well, no actually, I have yet to begin. Last year, I miraculously had everything purchased and wrapped by Thanksgiving weekend #overachiever. Love this wrapping paper! Definitely looking for the most inexpensive DIY wrapping paper for sure. I'll be playing White Christmas while wrapping this weekend. PS- if you have Netflix, they have 3 variations of fires you can display on your screen for those of you without a hearth of your own!

BOOM! Definitely on the 2015 bucket list is to take a helicopter tour of NYC. Every day makes me appreciate living here in this big ol' city more and more. Keep smelling those streets filled with hotdog vendors and horse poo, hear the honks of cabbies and screams of crazies on the platform and most importantly...look up and around. It's what makes this place THE city!

This quote makes me reminisce of high school days with my best... a year is coming to the end and there is nothing more I'd love than to sit up at the loft with the whole gang or taking in the sunset at Jeb's point.

IMG_5805

Everything in moderation... may you have all that makes you happy and all that makes you understand who you really are meant to be.

IMG_5831

Holiday partay time!! Nothing better to serve guests than a well gathered group of meats and cheeses! and LOTS of wine and bubbles!

IMG_5839

Having recently been gifted a pouf beanie myself, I absolutely love Katie's whole look...those Chanel sneakers though.... #tomboy4life

IMG_5827

Love this way of tying your scarf with the belt of your trench.

IMG_5829

tres chic! tres bien! If I had both these slippers on and pink fur..i'd hope to be in a cafe in Paris with a view of the Tower or city rooftops.

Inspiration: 11.18.14 - The InstaQuotes

The InstaQuotes

As females, we have a strong love for inspirational quotes. Don't lie - we all know you have at least 10 saved on your camera roll that you've seen either on some social media network, billboard and/or street art. We see a quote and it automatically becomes a sign - a beacon of hope for what we may be going through during that particular moment. Well, I am one of those chicks - see a quote I like and it goes straight to the camera roll and I'm not afraid to admit it. I've always been one for inspirational quotes. Perhaps the inner athlete in me maintains that connection of locker room pump up speeches - Rocky anyone? FU Stags, can I get an AMEN? - but nonetheless it continues now via social media - Instagram specifically.

Here are a few of the more recent stored quotes i've gathered in the past couple of months...

IMG_5524

#girlpower #makemoves Type of quote that says - yea! That's right, just keep swimming..just keep swimming

IMG_5646

I believe I've already mentioned my past experiences with controlling the situations in my life... well this is true. Yea I'm up for anything, as long as I plan ahead so there won't be any surprises...

IMG_5608

During the times when you need the strength to remember who you are and where you've come from - Iman keeps it real.

IMG_5647

Well this is technically not from Instagram but my brother knows me all too well. I am the small population of ladies in New York who not only enjoys eating but looks forward to the next meal every time. Even if I'm already eating at the moment. #Yolo ? #beefy

IMG_5622

Then Cara Delevingne gives us this lovely mantra. Something to repeat daily when life is tossing you lemons and there's just no juicer available. This has really been one of my absolute favorites.

IMG_5609

Now, I love tattoos. I think although some people may take it too far - to each, their own - I think they're sometimes a beautiful way of expressing oneself. A lot of times we travel down roads that leave us too far from the person we are, that tattoos can help you always remember. Not saying get out there and get tatted, they're not meant for everyone. Lord knows your 80 year old self wont be loving that Tiger across your lower back but hey, at the time you thought you were fierce.

IMG_5616

Lastly, again Iman keeps it real. It is all about baby steps and learning who you are and the excitement of who you will become.

As a person who generally always had "control" over her life, I had no trouble fitting in a workout, blogging, daily news, and social media all on top of my 9-5ish full-time job. Over the course of moving to the city, Summer plans which turned into Fall activities and beginning a new job, I've found less time to do all of those things I was so easily capable doing.

Priorities have changed and I'm learning how to just live in the moment all while trying to run the world - as girls do. This week's inspiration touches upon a few of these notes -

Olivia Palermo - how to dress like a boss! Channeling the powers of Olivia Pope (Scandal), Jessica Pearson (Suits) and a little Emily Thorne/Amanda Clark (Revenge), dressing up for the position you want should always prevail. An outfit can make or break your mood and change your day unexpectedly.

Coffee & Magazines - fooor days my friends. Felt a little basic yesterday and craved a Pumpkin Spiced Latte - apparently the season is over and instead I received a peppermint mocha - AWFUL SURPRISE! I will stick to my cappuccinos till Spring. Magazines for inspiration. I will always love that tangible feel of a print magazine. Before the world of pinterest and tablets - no, i'm not that old - there were folders of torn out magazine pages. There is something about print magazines that will always resonate a stronger connection with me than that of any interactive, digital issue. It inspires as you go round, after round of reviewing the same magazine just in case you missed something. I've felt disconnected to that world and am looking forward for the moment I can finally sit down and read the September Issues of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar - gasp! I have yet to look still. Those issues take time.

Sneakers/Trainers the modern day Working Girl - Thank the goodness sneakers are cool and chic to rock to the office. After injuring my foot either via Pilates or running the concrete jungle, I will be in sneakers for the rest of the week at the office. Always fascinating the amount of variables one can work a pair into even the most professional of outfits. If you have yet to see Working Girl - get it together and step it up. She's the originator of sneakers to work chic.

The final picture - i'm drawn to it. Perhaps because she looks like a bad arse boss or maybe I just love black and white together on a gal. Either way, i'm channeling her energy too.

Get inspired and shift into gear. It's already Wednesday people!!

This week i'm loving the - finally - cool, crisp weather. With the expected rain for this week, all I want to do is bundle up in sweaters and brunch. Is that too much to ask for? I do enjoy a good bellini or two, but with the cold, wet weather, I'll take some people watching and a cappuccino.

I'm Back!

photo 1 photo 2Oh hello there. Did you miss me? Who are we kidding? Of COURSE you missed me!

Well after a bit of a staycation with friends and the first week at the new job, I have neglected my duties as leader of the Lily - Yes, I just said that. I will share with you my photo diary of my adventures during these two weeks while I was MIA from all of your lives.

I highly recommend taking the East River Ferry just for giggles, next time you are headed to or from Brooklyn. For $4, it is a short moment of feeling as if you could be on your own personal yacht looking for adventure. On a beautiful day, it's nice to get out on the water.

photo 3 photo 2 photo 1 photo 4A few mornings a week, you can find me strolling through Central Park to get a bit of fresh air and inspiration on the way to the office. It is absolutely beautiful - and quite quiet - first thing in the morning. Before the majority of tourists come about, there are only joggers, cyclists, and men and their best friends (dogs, on dogs, on dogs). Who needs coffee when you have fresh air? Just kidding, it is lovely to walk to work but to kick it into high gear for the entire day, I need a strong cup of Joe or Giuseppe - depending on my mood.

photo 3My inspiration for a Fall outfit has come from Madewell. Love mixing feminine and masculine pieces together. I will certainly be rocking something similar to this very soon. Cheers to flannel and Fall!

Well now, Ciao Italia! This weekend, I welcomed my first pair of designer heels into my home. Of course, in true fashion, these ladies are from the local consignment shop a few blocks from my apartment. I couldn't be more thrilled! Watch out Elvis, these blue suede shoes will give yours a run for your money! God bless the KING!

Happy First Day Of Fall!!!

That perfect Fall chill is in the air and it makes me feel all bubbly with happiness. This will be my first Fall living in the City and I'm looking forward to brunches and long dinners with lots of wine to keep me warm. As well as new adventures with friends and family.

It's Monday I know, but think happy thoughts and open a bottle of wine. Cheers to Fall!

So many adventures, so little time. Cannot believe Labor Day Weekend has passed and we are in September!!! I know Summer doesn't officially end till September 21st BUT for everyone in the working world, Summer has ended. Cheers to the fun, sun, and friends that made it a memorable one for the books!

Two songs that really hit the nail on the head as Summer comes to an end... a little throwback if you please...
