So Much Room For Activities

so-much-room-for-activities_3347201_GIFSoup.comSource: Gif Soup

As a newb in the Big Apple, I have numerous adventures on my bucket list. So what if I act like a tourist? I've been checking activities off left and right...what have you done lately?

Fortunately - both activities I share with you today are in the same location, different day.

Mondays - HBO Film Festival. Had a blast watching The Karate Kid, eating popcorn and thanks to my BFF, stale cookies from Uruguay - thanks girl. Time is running out for this activity though, as believe it or not, summer is almost over - gasp!

Tuesday Mornings & Thursday Evenings - Yoga baby! Attempt to be flexible and watch New Yorkers find their center in their suits. I kid you not, I watched a man a few rows ahead of me form into a pretzel in his suit and tie. I'm not even mad...I'm impressed. There's plenty of time for Yoga as it's offered through September.

Continuing with my Poppy love and adding in her BFF Alexa Chung, check out Net-A-Porter's The EDIT for a video of the two bonding over drinks and a great photo shoot with Poppy's details on what a friendship means.

I'm up for a cross country road trip in a mustang with my ladies. Just name the time! I'll make the soundtrack ;)

Had such a great time this past weekend running off with le boyfriend to the Hamptons for the day. The warmer weather has woken me up from the winter blues and it was time to getaway from it all and hit the beach.

First up - a little bubbly at my favorite Vineyard on the South Fork - Wölffer Estate Vineyard - at their Wine Stand. It was a gorgeous day and the plate of meats and cheeses hit the spot! We tried their Noblesse Oblige Sparkling Rose 2010 for the first time and were not disappointed. I love how each wine is named after one of their horses.

Afterward, we headed back to Southampton on the hunt for the house from Something's Gotta Give. I'm a huge fan of the movie and it has become a tradition to watch it every year once the summer season begins. Fun fact - the movie only shot scenes with the exterior of the house. All interior shots were actually sets filmed on stage. Nonetheless, the home is absolutely beautiful ...from a distance.

Here are a few snapshots from my brief travels through Paris. There is so much to see and as it was my first visit with only a bit of knowledge of the sexy French language, I felt happily overwhelmed. Tulips and the spring will from now on always make me yearn for Paris and I hope to one day return..and return after that...and forever have an affair with the city of lights.

Ps- don't ask me why tulips considering they are apparently a native of the Mediterranean coasts. You learn something new every day. I suppose the bright colors and pretty flowers make my brain connect to Paris.

Had a blast last week during my travels to LA for an event. My stay at The Chamberlain in West Hollywood was wonderful. Super cute hotel with a great rooftop view of downtown LA. First time in West Hollywood and loved everything from the bungalows lining the streets to the quiet mornings - seriously LA I don't get it. It's 9am and you're still not awake on a weekday?

Eats:

Estérel for "French cuisine and mediterranean accent." So delicious - the Lavender Honey Duck Breast was magnifique ;)

In-N-Out Burger is an obvious choice when in California. As a New Yorker there is a massive lack of this fine cuisine which makes the trip out west that much better. I downed a double cheeseburger, fries, coke and ...yes a chocolate milkshake and I'd do it all over again. I was so excited for my food I completely forgot to take a picture until I had eaten it all. Here's to the next trip!

Drinks:

Riviera 31 was enjoyable for a bit after dinner however, the crowd got weird and needless to say we became adventurous and headed for the streets of LA.

SLS was incredible. I honestly have never seen anything like their dining and bar area. Perhaps it was the alcohol, but from the moment we entered the hotel, there was so much to see we just had to walk around through the entire layout. There's The Bazaar and Tres both by José Andrés and Saam. All distinctively different which makes the tour so much more exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed my bubbly in a red, light-up thrown adjacent to my friend sitting in a completely opposite thrown looking as though it belonged in a hunter's lounge with bull horns and fur- and I loved it!

It's The Final Countdown

I was so lucky to be able to see The Black Keys live AND at Roseland Ballroom. Why is it such a big deal you ask? Well, first and foremost, Roseland, after being open for 80 years, will be closing its doors permanently in April after Lady Gaga performs the final shows. If you have never been, I suggest checking out their site and keeping your eyes open on Spotify for last minute shows. It is an awesome venue and if you're lucky enough to get upstairs or get a spot on the side benches or stage, your view will be killer. Otherwise, wear platforms.

Ever since the TV Show Hung appeared on HBO with the theme song, "I'll Be your Man," I've been hooked on The Black Keys. No, I did not say The Black Eyed Peas. Do you see Fergie in those photos above? It's ok, I forgive you. Definitely check them out if you love some bluesy rock and roll. Dan and Patrick are some really awesome musicians from Ohio and are absolutely worth seeing live if you get the chance. Thank you a million times over to you 2 people who made this night happen for me. You know who you are ;) Seeing them first hand and hearing them live was incredible!

What to wear to a rock concert? See below for some inspiration :)

SoHo Sights and Eats

SoHo

I had a blast this weekend during a nice 24 hours in SoHo. After receiving the Fashion Insiders' Guide - New York book for Christmas, I began to check off places to go.

Rubirosa - Awesome pizza! Perfectly crispy and so thin...it lead me to eat half the vodka pie. A great ambiance with a stellar soundtrack.

Mister H - Pretty cool spot overall. I think the infamous sign pictured above is a great addition to the atmosphere, aside from the pole dancers.. NBD. DJ Pheelgood was awesome and kicked off the party with fabulous beats straight off the bat. I truly dislike when it takes the DJ a bit to warm the crowd up. I had a great time celebrating two of my besties' 25th birthdays. Always entertaining when the crew gets together.

Balthazar - I've been wanting to check out this french inspired, brunch spot even before seeing it listed in my new guide book. Delicious food and a great cappuccino! Next time, that raw bar is all mine. I stuck with eggs bella donna this round. Be sure to check out their bakery next door - their almond croissants are mouth watering!
