Anti-Parisian Essentials

Just when I begin to think I've gotten closer in obtaining that chic, Parisian style, Who What Wear informs me of the items they simply would NEVER own in their closets.

1. 3" Heels: It's either all or nothing at all. A 5" high-heel or a pair of "smart" flats shelter their feet.

My Vote: I'm working on the 5" aside from a night out on the town. It is very difficult to stand in 5" heels for a full work day. I definitely DO own a few solid pairs of flats. Even though I'm on the shorter side, a good flat keeps a smile on anyone's face by the time 5pm rolls around.

2. Logos: A no go. Keep it simple. Keep it basic.

My Vote: Totally agree. Aside from a Chanel Brooch (wish list) or sarcastic t-shirt (Celfie, Homies, etc.), I'm the type to get uncomfortable with giant logos or labels covering my body. You can own designer items, but keep the visual branding to a minimum.

3. No Nylon, Polyester, Viscose, or Vinyl: Apparently they make you sweaty, smelly, and shiny.

My Vote: Due to the lack in budget for quality made apparel. This one I'm going to let slide since majority of items at H&M and Zara are made of these fabrics.

4. Sweatpants: "No man should ever see you in these. Except your gym teacher - and even then. Leggings are tolerated." - Their vote - slouchy trousers.

My Vote: Gasp! Don't take my sweatpants away! As an athlete (possibly retired by now) I lived in my sweatpants during college. Running between classes and practices or 8 hour bus rides, no one is rocking anything but! However, as I've gotten older I do get it. There is a time and place for everything. Sort of like portion control with dieting. Everything in moderation right?

5. Blingy Jeans: "They belong to Bollywood."

My Vote: Even though I do enjoy a nice Bollywood dance-off, I agree. The days of "Jenny from the block" and Juicy on the booty are over. There is no need for bling on your jeans.

6. Shearling Boots: Instead "they" wear smart ankle boots.

My Vote: Clearly, "they" have never been in NYC during the polar vortex. I love my Sorel winter boots with just the slightest touch of shearling. When warmth is desired, I say DO IT!

7. Skimpy Tops: "Because you're not 15 anymore."

My Vote: Portion control.... Just kidding. No matter what the event or hour, there is a time and place for everything. Going to work in a loose cami, probably isn't the best idea. If you're out at a bar or tinder date, by all means! Just know the message you're obviously putting out their if you do ;)

8. Fake Designer Bags: "Like fake breasts, you can't fix your insecurities through forgery."

My Vote: Truth! However, again with the lack of budget, you don't have to pay full price for designer. Do your research and purchase through verified online or in-store locations such as Shop-Hers and The Perfect Purse (Southampton).

I could probably look through photos of street style looks for days. I love how differently everyone dresses depending on the city they're in. For example, compliments of Net-A-Porter's eblast a while ago...

With a new season and Spring '15 FW just about over, there's nothing left to do but shop ;)  It was only natural that on the first day of Fall yesterday, I celebrated with a nice glass of prosecco and clean out my closet and dresser - Bradshaw style! Although, it was more 21st Century Bradshaw in which my roommate proceeded to laugh at me for being OCD and completing too aggressive of a chore for a Monday night.

Oh and why the Robert Downey jr. insertion? well...have you seen him sing?!?!?! Just another note to add to the list of why i love him so. Happy Tuesday - hope Cinco de drinko didn't hurt you too badly.

Here are a few snapshots from my brief travels through Paris. There is so much to see and as it was my first visit with only a bit of knowledge of the sexy French language, I felt happily overwhelmed. Tulips and the spring will from now on always make me yearn for Paris and I hope to one day return..and return after that...and forever have an affair with the city of lights.

Ps- don't ask me why tulips considering they are apparently a native of the Mediterranean coasts. You learn something new every day. I suppose the bright colors and pretty flowers make my brain connect to Paris.

This collage really makes me smile. On a cloudy and rainy day like today, I can only dream of pretty colors, getaways, and warmer weather. All of this week's inspiration comes from the blog - Classy in the City. A great, never ending site of pictures that really take you off into a dream world. Just started following her Instagram account... oh boy!
