Happy Halloween

1 2 3 4 5 6Photo Source: Domaine

Some really excellent pumpkins to get you in the mood for this year's Halloween. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't carve my own this year however, I went to town on creating my flower crown and practicing my make up for my own costume. Keep an eye out for the final look for my Dia de los muertos - even though i'm jumping the gun and dressing up a day before the actually day i'm supposed to, oops.

Check out more pumpkin designs here.

I'm Back!

photo 1 photo 2Oh hello there. Did you miss me? Who are we kidding? Of COURSE you missed me!

Well after a bit of a staycation with friends and the first week at the new job, I have neglected my duties as leader of the Lily - Yes, I just said that. I will share with you my photo diary of my adventures during these two weeks while I was MIA from all of your lives.

I highly recommend taking the East River Ferry just for giggles, next time you are headed to or from Brooklyn. For $4, it is a short moment of feeling as if you could be on your own personal yacht looking for adventure. On a beautiful day, it's nice to get out on the water.

photo 3 photo 2 photo 1 photo 4A few mornings a week, you can find me strolling through Central Park to get a bit of fresh air and inspiration on the way to the office. It is absolutely beautiful - and quite quiet - first thing in the morning. Before the majority of tourists come about, there are only joggers, cyclists, and men and their best friends (dogs, on dogs, on dogs). Who needs coffee when you have fresh air? Just kidding, it is lovely to walk to work but to kick it into high gear for the entire day, I need a strong cup of Joe or Giuseppe - depending on my mood.

photo 3My inspiration for a Fall outfit has come from Madewell. Love mixing feminine and masculine pieces together. I will certainly be rocking something similar to this very soon. Cheers to flannel and Fall!

Well now, Ciao Italia! This weekend, I welcomed my first pair of designer heels into my home. Of course, in true fashion, these ladies are from the local consignment shop a few blocks from my apartment. I couldn't be more thrilled! Watch out Elvis, these blue suede shoes will give yours a run for your money! God bless the KING!

So Long Sweet Summer

Untitled-1

So many adventures, so little time. Cannot believe Labor Day Weekend has passed and we are in September!!! I know Summer doesn't officially end till September 21st BUT for everyone in the working world, Summer has ended. Cheers to the fun, sun, and friends that made it a memorable one for the books!

Two songs that really hit the nail on the head as Summer comes to an end... a little throwback if you please...

US Open

photo 4photo 1

photo 2 photo 3

My very first US Open!! Had an absolutely stellar time! Although our seats were in the nose bleeds, the Moet and talent made up for it all. Being able to watch Federer and Serena was a dream. Federer with his calm appeal and Serena being an insane power house, it was an incredible time being able to see it all live. The Moet lounge wasn't so terrible either ;)

What to wear to the US Open? Depends on what you're feeling and where you're sitting. I'm always one for dressing jazzy, but last night I kept it simple with a sweater, pants, and a sweet pair of Nikes. Get inspired...

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

1

My brother and I enjoyed a great evening at Yankee Stadium, compliments of my Aunt - best out there! Happy I was able to see Jeter one last time before his time comes to an end in MLB. Unfortunate he didn't hit anything major. However, it was nice to see him jump for a ball... that butt though... ;)

Here are a few necessary items to wear if you're off to a game... please note - ditch the heels. Don't be a broad, be a baller.

So Much Room For Activities

so-much-room-for-activities_3347201_GIFSoup.comSource: Gif Soup

As a newb in the Big Apple, I have numerous adventures on my bucket list. So what if I act like a tourist? I've been checking activities off left and right...what have you done lately?

Fortunately - both activities I share with you today are in the same location, different day.

Mondays - HBO Film Festival. Had a blast watching The Karate Kid, eating popcorn and thanks to my BFF, stale cookies from Uruguay - thanks girl. Time is running out for this activity though, as believe it or not, summer is almost over - gasp!

Tuesday Mornings & Thursday Evenings - Yoga baby! Attempt to be flexible and watch New Yorkers find their center in their suits. I kid you not, I watched a man a few rows ahead of me form into a pretzel in his suit and tie. I'm not even mad...I'm impressed. There's plenty of time for Yoga as it's offered through September.

How Do you Workout?

2

I found The Coveteur's article on workout attire and the chic chick rocking it pretty great. No surprise here when it comes to gym time, I don't aim for chic. The article breaks down the type of woman you are based on your look and workouts you sweat through. If I had to absolutely be one of the five I would be between the slasher and the eccentric.

The Editor: Sticks to tennis in ladylike dresses with her Chanel.  -- I like tennis, I like dresses, but Chanel doesn't belong on the court...did I say that out loud?

The Slasher: Workout of choice includes bootcamps, sculpting classes and fast paced beats. -- sounds more like me, especially if you read The Coveteur's description - she's rocking sweats and sneakers with a t-shirt. Although mine are not Moschino.

The Hyperbeast: No cardio and hits the weights. -- Sorry, after being a D1 Athlete for four years and finally losing most of the ridiculous, manly, muscle mass, I stay far away from weights. Go Stags!

The Model: Hot Yoga, Zumba, Nike Training Club -- ok, I honestly do these workouts but who is going to run around calling themselves a model without a first name like Cara, Karlie, or Gisele? I also am not photo ready post sweating.

The Eccentric: Spin class -- love it. Flywheel is the best (Emily Janis your instructing skills and support are unbeatable). However, I would never wear any type of headband that had ears coming off it...or would I? Have I?

Get your gear, get your workout - read it all HERE.

Inspiration: 6.30.14

Inspiration 6.30.14

After a road trip to Montauk and my first EDM concert i'm in need of a great night sleep. Definitely feeling the casual attire vibe from Le Fashion and We Wore What. Man - i'd love a pair of overalls right now.

The top photo is a picture from the Glastonbury festival in England. Definitely on the bucket list of life's adventures. Although the concert wasn't as epic as this festival, it was worth doing for a one time shot. Happy to catch a little Clockwork and Bingo Players last night. Dancing on a beach with the view of the Empire and fireworks in the distance isn't too shabby a way to close a weekend.

Night At The Ballet

Dress: T.J. Maxx, Shoes: Zara, Ring: David Yurman, Watch: Michael Kors

Believe it or not, I once took ballet and as much as I loved being a "baby duck" or "lady bug" I was never cut out for the elegant dance. I've always loved watching ballet to see the beautiful costumes and am fascinated by the flexibility and strength these dancers have.

Finally, last night I went to Lincoln Center to see The American Ballet perform Swan Lake with my mother dearest. It was absolutely beautiful and I would recommend that everyone A- visit and see a performance at Lincoln Center and B- definitely take in Swan Lake. It is a story we all know whether we've seen the performance or not - perhaps if only for seeing the movie Black Swan?

TBT: VC Polo Classic

My second year at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park and I did things right. After getting my feet wet last year and taking it all in, I learned quickly the must-haves and dos prior to the event.

A- definitely worth purchasing at least one of the First Ferry Tickets. Although these tickets are double the cost of General Admission, it is worth having someone get over to the park and grabbing a prime spot to set your picnic right in front of the polo pitch.

B- pack snacks and water! I had a lovely selection of fruits for champagne, meats, cheeses and crackers.

C- blankets are essential but chairs and a mini table are just awesome. I didn't bring a set this year but wouldn't be opposed to having one next year.

D- comfy shoes are a necessity as you literally walk 20 minutes. I tell you no lie. Plus after a day of drinking champagne who knows where your liquid courage will take you afterwards.
