Photo Source: SwideIf you haven't realized by now that I love French style, get with it. Carine Roitfeld - former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris - is one of the many French females I so adore for the simplicity of their fashion. They really are on to something with the less is more attitude.
Toasting Bastille Day earlier this month, Harper's Bazaar posted their 10 Ways To Be More French - do tell.
1 - Begin your day with an espresso and croissant, fresh from the bakery!
Check. Sort of. With my recent Nespresso purchase, I do enjoy a nice shot of espresso in the morning to get the adrenaline going. Days I'm feeling like treating myself I pick up a nice almond croissant (only the most calorie loaded of the croissant family will do) from the nearby FIKA.
2 - Carry your groceries home in a trés cute straw shopping basket.
Let's be real people. I would love to pull a Dorothy and walk all day with a lovely picnic basket but it's the NYC and I'm a very hungry girl. Fresh Direct is the way to go. However, when I do go for a quick run through at the local shop, I go green and skip the plastic. Love the Earth.
3 - Wrap a scarf around the handle of your handbag.
Ok. This is possible...
4 - Wear stripes!
Check. Went to college in the New England area and ipso facto, I've got the sailor suit down!
5 - Follow our guide to achieving perfect French girl hair.
Check! Messy long hair - nail it all day, everyday. Messy up do? Check.
6 - Swipe on red lipstick with an otherwise bare face.
Definitely! Only as of recent have I been trying more to apply a little color on the lips. I have the French beauty style down pat. I wear only mascara to the office and now... a bit of color.
7 - Borrow your boyfriends blue button down and wear it with white jeans and a trench coat.
Most definitely! I love masculine style with a feminine twist. Nothing like a well man-tailored shirt and some jeans to feel strong yet oh so womanly.
8 - Go topless on the beach.
Well about that... although it IS legal in NYC for a woman to go topless, I have yet to do so. Perhaps it's the setting or the social media, instatweet phenomenon but until i'm far away on another continent or island where no one knows my name, my top stays on. Your welcome parents!
9 - Trade your stilettos for a chic pair of ballet flats.
I'd love to, but i'm a bit short and prefer the act of elongating my legs. Although i'll meet halfway and wear a ladylike pointed toe instead.
10 - Eat bread and butter at every meal and skip going to the gym.
Yes and YES to bread and butter however, if I want to look French and thin, the parks and roads are my friends and runs are my release.
