Fashion Week Life Lessons

As Fashion Month begins, there are many valuable lessons you can learn that will carry you through life itself. Thank you Who What Wear for bringing your top 13 lessons into focus. Here are my favorites...

1

If you didn't Instagram it, you weren't there.

2

Name dropping is annoying, but sometimes it totally works.

5

Don't take yourself too seriously.

4

Your mom was right: you should always pack a snack.

3

It's chic to be practical.

Street Style: Sydney Fashion Week

Here are some of my favorite looks at this year's Fashion Week in Australia - Sydney. Super fun and funky. Bright colors and awesome t-shirts. In my mind, Fashion Week in Australia just sounds like a great vacation. Relaxed, laid back, fun outfits without the stress and hassle NYC typically brings. Who knows, I could be way off and all of these smiling faces above could be really great actresses. Check out more street style looks via Vogue.

Ciao Italia! Milan Fashion Week ended yesterday. Check out more from street style via WWD or runway looks Here.  How I'd love to be sipping on a cappuccino street side right now...right before jetting to Paris for the next round of runway shows ;)

LFW: Street Style

1

In love with those chunky rings and the giant blue fedora!

2

Awesome coat and she somehow pulls off the corset over the button down.

3

Killer coat, love the pink details.

4

Keeping it cool with the basics - leather, chambray and a grand wool coat.

5

Too cool for school. Stealing a look from the boys with the wayfarers and button down. The coat definitely is the main focal point. Love it!

6

Although I'm not bold enough to wear this all together, the chelsea boot and leather jacket are definitely items i'd like to nab.

Some of my favorite designers within the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Check out more on their site HERE.

I find it easiest to keep track of my favorite shows through Instagram accounts from bloggers I follow. Blair Eadie, We Wore What, Man Repeller, Something Navy, and The Glamourai to name a few. It's almost like being at the show yourself, minus the chaos and anxiety of getting to your seat pre-show and jetting out post-finale.

NYFW - Street Style

1

This EXTRA oversized clutch is awesome! Loving the color red of her coat. Really pops! Plus she is rocking Frends headphones - which are the best. I love my silver pair.

2

Blogger of Something Navy - she is super cute and always stylish. Her coat is my favorite part of the outfit. I like that she kept the pants and blouse white in order for the coat to take center stage.

4

Really adore the whole outfit. Very chic basics from the coat to the cropped top/skirt combo.

5

Leandra Medine of Man Repeller always rocks her style with confidence. Love everything from the fringed bag and knee-high boots, to the 90's styled blazer and handkerchief around her neck.

All photos from Harper's Bazaar. Check out more below from Who What Wear!

1

I prefer the outfit to the right. Everything from the big floppy hat to the preppy collar and sweater.

2

I'm into the gold chain necklace. I know Celine came out with one a while ago but I have yet to find something nice enough for lesser value. Stay tuned..

3

Varsity jackets ..so hot right now. ;) But seriously. It's great this athletic trend is around to be trendy and comfortable at the same time.

4

I'm a sucker for menswear on a lady. I just think it is so sharp and powerful. The purple tie really pulls it all together.

5

The jacket and that gold necklace are my favorite takeaways from this outfit. Very fun. Although I may have done a different bag. The metallic is too much for me with this. But to each their own.

Always love Victoria. She as a human is beautiful even if she doesn't smile in photos. Her clothes are beautiful and her handbags even more so.

Really feeling the coats! The grey pant suit is stellar. This black jacket is even better. Reminds me of the highly sought after Acne jackets.

Yes, the same Coach we once knew is no longer. Totally redesigned and amazing. So impressed what the brand has done to step out of their comfort zone and create something new.

And so it began last Thursday - Fashion Week in New York. This was the first year I can say I was actually upset not being able to be a part of the action first hand. I actually felt a wave of sadness roll through me. Funny since I've never been to a show at all.

Many men and women who have been through the circus ring time and time again will tell you it isn't always worth the effort. Perhaps since I'm still so green that I wouldn't care if I had to deal with a few elbows in the face to get a seat to see any of the shows live. Luckily, we live in such a fast paced, tech savvy world that I don't miss out on what is showcased. Whether it's Instagram, Facebook, or blogger sites, everyone gets the first look in their pajamas or while at the office.

Enjoy friends! xx
